Kill Devil Hills received its municipal charter from the North Carolina General Assembly on March 6, 1953. Since then, we have become a very popular family vacation retreat. Situated in the near geographic middle of the northern Dare County beaches, Kill Devil Hills is the largest municipality in Dare County with a year-round population of almost 7,000 people. We are proud to be the site of the first heavier-than-air powered flight. On December 17, 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright were successful in making four flights at the base of the big hill that is now a part of the Wright Brothers National Memorial.

Special Meeting - Tuesday, January 31, 2012 @ 6:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room at the Administration Building, 102 Town Hall Drive, off Colington Road, for the sole purpose of the Board considering and taking action on a proposed agreement for legal services for the position of Town Attorney that will confirm the law firm of Sharp, Michael and Graham, and specifically Steve Michael as the Town Attorney for the Town of Kill Devil Hills.

Planning Retreat - Friday, February 3, 2012 @ 1:30 p.m. in the Meeting Room at the Administration Building, 102 Town Hall Drive, off Colington Road, the Board of Commissioners will hold a planning retreat. During the meeting the Board will discuss and possibly take action on items of importance related to the ongoing business of the Town, Board of Commissioners policies and procedures, and issues that may be prioritized for action during the 2012 calendar year and beyond.

Recycle – because it’s the right thing to do. In Kill Devil Hills, there are two ways to recycle: the Town has a center off Colington Road where separated recyclables can be brought and placed in the proper receptacles and there is also a curbside recycling service available for a monthly charge. The curbside service is provided by Outer Banks Hauling. To obtain more information on this convenient service, please call 252-480-6699. |
